There are two options for using the PURE MVP Mason Jar Vacuum System.

1. MVP Pump + MVP Lids with Valves (easiest)
2. MVP Pump + MVP Plain Lids + MVP Adapter + Lid Key (most secure)
 
MVP Pump + MVP Lids with Valves. This is the simple, no-fuss, no-bother way to vacuum-store juice.


This system can be used for both juice and food storage. Remove the white cap from the pump, fill the jar (leaving space for juice expansion), place a lid with a valve on any wide-mouth mason jar, and stroke the pump until the juice releases its oxygen. Optionally, a lock ring can be added to further secure the lid. The vacuum process is now complete, and the juice is shelf stable for up to one week. Click to Watch the Lids with Valves Video

What sets the MVP System apart from all other portable vacuum systems?

At full vacuum, the MVP Pump removes 80-85% of the oxygen. By removing this much oxygen, we are extending the storage life of our juice by 2-3 times. No other system removes this much vacuum. Other systems range from 15% to 65% oxygen removal. 


The MVP pump actually degasses the juice. The PURE MVP System is the only system that actually degasses (removes the oxygen) from the juice. All other pumps can only create a vacuum in the headspace above the juice. No other portable pump or countertop vacuum system can make this claim.

Do both the MVP with plain lids and the lids with valves stay sealed?

To date, we have not had a properly sealed lid come loose. We have lids that have stayed sealed for months. Yes, some lids have come off; this can happen if there is debris under the lid or valve compromising the seal or when a hot liquid is vacuum sealed and then refrigerated or a cool liquid is put in the freezer. In these instances, as the jar and contents cool, the vacuum pressure may be lost, causing the seal to release. But when a clean lid is installed and the liquid is room temperature or cooler, the lid should stay sealed indefinitely.

How do we know if the valve lid is sealed?

It’s super easy to tell just by looking. There is a telltale built into the valve. The top of the MVP valve is domed; when vacuum is present, the dome is drawn down towards the jar. A simple visual inspection advises if the valve is still sealed.

Is the MVP Pump Easy to Clean?

Yes, the MVP Pump is easy to service. Sometimes when the juice expands under high vacuum, a little juice gets into the pump. When this happens, simply remove the piston rod and handle assembly by unscrewing the top cap, then rinse all the parts in plain water (no soap), let dry overnight, then reassemble. If soap is used, it will be necessary to grease the piston O-ring.

Can We Freeze the Juice?

Yes, you can, but the correct jars must be used. The PURE MVP lids are designed for wide-mouth Mason jars with no shoulder. Never freeze square bottles or jars with shoulders.


Round jars are best and allow the frozen juice to expand uniformly. Shoulders and corners create weakness and can cause the jars to shatter when frozen. When freezing, fill to the freeze line on the jar or about 1.25” from the jar rim.
 

Not all mason jars are the same. US-made mason jars are still the most reliable. Most imported jars we have tested shatter when frozen. Test one ahead of time with water in a bowl or Ziploc bag to prevent spillage.

Will PURE offer Standard Lids in addition to Wide Mouth Lids? 

Yes, we should have both Plain Lids and Lids with Valves in stock November 1, 2025.

Can the MVP Plain Lids be used for high-temperature water bath canning?

Yes, they can! In fact, they are reusable. Simply sterilize the lids in boiling water for two minutes, and the lids are ready to be reused.

Is vacuum sealing the same as high-temperature water bath canning?

No! Vacuum storage is meant to extend the shelf life of whatever is being vacuumed; it is not meant for long-term storage. Juice and produce can be stored for 1-2 weeks, cookies and chips for 2-4 weeks, and flour and grains for 6-12 months. These storage times are possible because the contents have been deoxygenated, and oxidation has been slowed way down.
